Description

For the last 2 years Martin Saddlery has been working on a new concept for our Team Roper. This concept allows you the opportunity to design your saddle from the tree up. You can design your saddle to fit your needs by selecting the Horn, Swell, Ground Seat, and Cantle. There are over 100 different tree combinations available for you to build your saddle the way you want. You can select your tree parts to – fit your roping style, design it for comfort, or to help you maximize your performance. This concept originated from working with our professionals. We were modifying our existing trees to provide them with a saddle they needed to compete at the highest level. With Martin having the capability to do this, the idea evolved of letting all ropers, from beginners, to amateurs, to the professionals, to be able to build a saddle the way they want it, starting with the tree.

    #2 – #18 (3”h x 2.75”cap)
Smallest roper horn available, favored by Headers. Easy and fast to get a dally and it is the shortest horn, so you are less likely to hit hand while dallying
    #3 – Small DM8 (3.5”h x 2.75”cap)
Standard roper horn with a smaller cap. Preferred by both Headers and Heelers. Smaller cap allows for an easier and faster dally.
    #4 – TR100 Heeler Post (3.5”h x 3”cap)
Designed specifically for Heelers with a flat top that is centered on the post. More lip in the back to prevent the dally from ‘popping off’.

  • Swells Choices:
    #1 – Buster Welch (13”w)
Ball of swell on the end and flat on top and the ball of the swell on the end is high enough to get leg under without raising the horn. It negates the need for a legcut swell.
    #2 – Wide Buster (13.5”)
More contact for the rider than the regular Buster Welch and you don’t have to squeeze to get ahold of the swell.
    #3 – Refined TM (12”w)
Thinner swell with more legcut. TM = Toots Mansfield style used by Kory Koontz / Joseph Harrison style ropers.
    #4 – Modified Association (12.5”w)
Ball of the swell on the end lower than the Buster and it isLess swell (no front) • Preferred by Headers • Jackie Hobbs / Luke Brown
  • Ground Seat:
    #1 Flat
Closer contact to the horse and easier to get to the front of the saddle
    #2 Standard
Slight Rise at the swell and more comfortable
    #3 Raised
More pocket and security, plus helps you with consistent seat and leg position
  • Rigging Options:
    7/8 – Standard option
    Full – More forward rig
Adjustable – Patented Adjustable Rigging with 3 slots
  • Skirt Choices:
    Regular – Compact athletic look

  • Cantle Height: 2.5″ (no interference), 3″ (common in most calf saddles), 3.5″ Standard (enough to keep your seat leaving box), 4″ (most security, rancher style)
  • SPRS Yes or No: The Stirrup Positioning Rig Slot maximizes your balance point and keeps your feet from getting behind you
